About the role
About Us:
Here at Ambience, we never set out to be just another scribe. We’re building the AI intelligence platform that restores humanity to healthcare and drives meaningful ROI for health systems across the country.
Our technology helps providers focus on delivering great care by removing the administrative burden that pulls them away from patients and away from their most impactful work. Ambience delivers real-time coding-aware documentation and clinical workflow support across ambulatory, emergency and inpatient settings at the top health systems in North America.
Our teams operate relentlessly with extreme ownership to build the best solutions for our health system partners. We value candor, positivity and deep thought — and we expect a lot from each other because we know the problems we’re solving truly matter.
Ambience was ranked #1 for Improving the Clinician Experience in the KLAS Research Emerging Solutions Top 20 Report, recognized by Fast Company as one of the Next Big Things in Tech, named one of the best AI companies in healthcare by Inc., and selected as a LinkedIn Top Startup in 2024 and 2025. We’re backed by Oak HC/FT, Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), OpenAI Startup Fund, and Kleiner Perkins — and we’re just getting started.
THE ROLE
As a Senior Product Manager at Ambience, you'll own a core product area on our clinical AI platform, from your first conversations with clinicians through measurable results with the health systems that use it. Your mission is to make your product accurate, trustworthy, and valuable in some of the most complex, high-stakes workflows in healthcare.
You'll own the product end to end: understanding how clinicians and care teams work today, deciding which problems to solve first, setting the roadmap, shipping with Engineering, Design, and Clinical AI, and measuring results with customers. You'll work on live products that clinicians rely on every day, as well as new capabilities where AI can take on work that people do manually today. As you deliver results, your scope will grow.
You don't need a healthcare background. We're looking for a strong, craft-driven product manager who learns complex domains quickly, and you'll build that depth through time with clinicians, customers, and our Clinical AI team.
Done well, this role makes Ambience indispensable to the clinicians and teams who use it and creates measurable value for the health systems that deploy it.
This is a Senior PM role - you'll work closely with engineering, design, Clinical AI/ML, and GTM teams.
We're a hybrid company headquartered in San Francisco. This role requires being in the SF office 3x/week, plus willingness to visit customers and shadow clinicians.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
Product Strategy & Workflow
- Define and execute the roadmap for your product area, setting priorities based on clinician and customer needs, product quality, and commercial value, and making clear tradeoffs between fixes and new capabilities.
- Spend time with clinicians and operational teams, in person and on site, to understand how their work happens today, and use that understanding to decide what we build.
- Own the end-to-end user experience, including how the product fits into existing workflows and EHR integrations, so it saves time instead of adding work.
- Partner with our shared platform teams so your product uses the right clinical context. You'll own your product experience, not the cross-product platforms.
Product Quality & Automation
- Partner with Engineering, Clinical AI, Design, and domain experts to improve accuracy, completeness, and reliability, and to reduce errors and regressions.
- Establish clear evaluations and quality measures for your product, understand where errors happen, and prioritize the ones that matter most.
- Define when AI output is ready for human review versus when work can be automated with less manual intervention, validating the approach with customers before expanding autonomy.
- Build repeatable approaches for extending the product to new use cases and specialties rather than treating each one as a separate effort.
Customer Outcomes & GTM
- Drive adoption and sustained usage. Identify where the product creates friction or doesn't fit existing workflows, and fix it.
- Define success before shipping and measure what changes for customers, such as accuracy, time saved, workflow completion, and adoption, working with Data, Care Transformation, and Value Attainment.
- Work with customer finance and revenue-cycle teams to measure the value created, distinguishing modeled value from results customers have realized.
- Partner with GTM and Product Marketing to communicate what the product does, where it works well, and what value customers should expect.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Must-Haves
- 5+ years of product management experience, with meaningful ownership of a product area from discovery through delivery and adoption. We care more about the quality of your experience and your rate of growth than years alone.
- Track record of rapidly learning a complex domain through firsthand user research and earning the trust of people who know it well.
- Strong technical fluency - comfort with AI/ML products, data, APIs, and complex integrations.
- Experience shipping user-facing products with complex workflows, multiple users or stakeholders, and real reliability requirements.
- Strong product judgment, clear written communication, and comfort making decisions with incomplete information.
- Based in SF, available to be in the office 3x/week, with willingness to visit customers and shadow clinicians.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience building ambient AI, LLM, or human-in-the-loop products, or products that automate work previously done by people.
- Prior 0-to-1 product experience, or experience improving adoption and quality in a live enterprise product.
- Experience with enterprise customers and regulated products.
- Healthcare or clinical workflow experience
