About the role

Who is Seyond? Seyond™ is a global leader in high fidelity LiDAR solutions, powering the future of mobility across ADAS, ITS, Robotics, Stationary and Off-Road industries. Seyond delivers a dynamic portfolio of robust, high resolution LiDAR sensors, perception software, and the Seyond ITS Management Platform (SIMPL). Founded in Silicon Valley with a global footprint, Seyond is dedicated to the highest quality engineering and manufacturing, and unwavering commitment to our customers. This job requisition is not eligible for employment-based immigration sponsorship by Seyond.

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior/Staff Application Engineer to join our System & Application Engineering team and lead the integration, deployment, validation, and technical support of our LiDAR sensing products. In this highly cross-functional and customer-facing role, you will serve as the technical bridge between customers, business development, product management, and engineering. You will take ownership of complex customer applications, ensure successful product integration in real-world environments, and translate field experience into actionable improvements for our products and solutions. The ideal candidate combines strong system-level technical knowledge, hands-on problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both engineering teams and customers.

How will you make an impact?

Develop a deep understanding of customer applications, system architectures, performance requirements, and operating environments. Serve as the primary technical point of contact for strategic customers throughout evaluation, integration, validation, deployment, and production support. Provide system-level guidance on LiDAR selection, configuration, installation, networking, synchronization, calibration, data processing, and performance optimization. Prepare, configure, and validate complete customer solutions, including LiDAR hardware, firmware, software, SDKs, drivers, cables, computing platforms, and supporting equipment, to ensure successful on-site deployment. Lead customer integration, proof-of-concept, and field-validation activities, including test planning, data collection, performance analysis, and issue resolution. Troubleshoot complex field issues involving hardware, firmware, software, networking, timing synchronization, environmental conditions, mechanical integration, and system configuration. Conduct structured root-cause investigations, reproduce customer-reported issues, analyze logs and sensor data, and work with engineering teams to drive issues to resolution. Develop and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including integration guides, application notes, troubleshooting procedures, training materials, test reports, and best-practice documents. Collaborate closely with optical, electrical, mechanical, firmware, software, algorithm, product, quality, and manufacturing teams to resolve technical issues and improve product performance. Clearly document technical findings, risks, recommendations, and action items, and communicate them effectively to engineering teams, customers, and management.

What qualifications and skills will make you succeed in this role?

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline. At least 5 years of relevant experience in application engineering, system engineering, field engineering, product integration, robotics, autonomous systems, or a related technical role. Experience with LiDAR, radar, cameras, imaging systems, robotics sensors, or other complex sensing products is strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience supporting customer integrations, technical evaluations, proof-of-concept projects, product demonstrations, or field deployments. Strong system-level understanding of hardware, embedded systems, firmware, software, networking, mechanical integration, and sensor performance. Hands-on experience with Linux-based systems, embedded computing platforms, and sensor integration. Experience working with LiDAR point-cloud data, sensor logs, visualization tools, performance analysis, and system validation. Experience with ROS or ROS 2, sensor SDKs, APIs, Git, Docker, Open3D, PCL, OpenCV, or similar development and integration tools is preferred. Familiarity with cameras, IMUs, GNSS, radar, sensor fusion, or autonomous-system computing platforms is a plus. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex issues methodically and drive them to closure. Strong learning ability and the capacity to quickly understand new products, technologies, and customer applications. Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple customer engagements, and make sound technical decisions in fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous situations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly to customers, engineers, and business stakeholders. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to approximately 20% for customer meetings, installations, testing, demonstrations, and field support.
