Most opportunities aren't on job boards yet
By the time a role hits LinkedIn, hundreds of people are applying. The opportunity window before the post is when you have leverage, when a company has just raised, just hired a leader, or just expanded into a new market.
By the time the role is on LinkedIn, you're competing with 600 people. By the time you spot the funding round, you're competing with 0.
The 5 buying signals
Your 15-minute intel stack
The daily routine
Morning coffee, 15 minutes. Same time every day. Make it a routine.1) LinkedIn (5 min) • Follow all Tier 1 companies. Save 3–5 thoughtful saved searches. • Notifications: company posts, new leadership hires, "is hiring" alerts. • Hit "view 1st-degree connections" on each Tier 1, see who you already know.2) Newsletters (5 min) • TechCrunch / Axios for funding (TC The Daily Crunch, Axios Pro Rata). • One industry-specific newsletter for your domain. • Founder/operator newsletters in your space, they signal trends before press does.3) Scan & Capture (5 min) • For each signal: capture company + signal + date + your move (research / message / wait). • If signal hits a Tier 1 → it goes on tomorrow's "act" list.
